The mountainous Parque Natural de Redes 30 km away, is covered with beech and oak forests. Higher up in the mountains, you will find juniper bushes and crowberries. The forests are home to the capercaillie, bear, wolf and chamois. Further north is the Paisaje Protegido Sierra del Sueve where a significant number of Asturcón ponies roam. To the east you will find the famous Parque Nacional de los Picos de Europa.

L'Ayalga is a traditional Asturian farmhouse near the village of Pandiella in central Asturias. The house deserves the name ‘ecological inn', as owners Luis and Conchy do their utmost to conserve the environment. The house was renovated using environmentally friendly materials and energy-saving methods (passive solar power). There are 5 double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Each room has its own ambience and good view; all the furniture and soft furnishings are made of natural materials and fabrics. The water is also managed in an environmentally friendly way; greywater is separated and recycled, rainwater is collected for various uses and the water is heated by solar power. Home-grown produce is used to prepare tasty, healthy meals.

If you want to go on a day trip, the owners will provide a picnic basket. They also organise nature walks and workshops in Tai Chi and Chi Kun. You can also learn how to make cleaning agents and cosmetics from natural products. You can read in the library, play board games and even order a massage.
