La Casa del Naturalista is just a stone's throw from the rocky coastline. Patricia lives with her parents Isabel and Luís in this farmhouse, which has been restored to reveal the original stone walls and oak beams. The farm still features two original horreos, the traditional rectangular granaries of Asturias. The old stables have been converted into guest lodgings, with sitting and dining rooms at ground level and bedrooms upstairs. The large garden has a nice sitting area with a view of the fields. The farm also has beehives. The greywater produced on the farm runs through a natural purification system and into a pool so clean that it is inhabited by rare amphibians. Not only is Patricia an organic farmer; she is also a nature guide and works as a co-ordinator at an ecology education centre. Patricia's parents help her to manage both the farm and the guest accommodation. Her mother Isabel is known to cook a fabulous fabada asturiana, a local bean speciality.

There are many walking and cycling paths in the vicinity. Two km from the farm, you will find the PR (short distance route) from Playa de Merón to Tazones, which runs past 12 old mills. The beach is 3 km away, and the Asturcón Horse Museum is 2 km from Quintana de la Foncalada. Just 9 km away you will find the Ría de Villaviciosa nature reserve, a rare ecosystem where many aquatic birds spend the winter, or rest during migration.
